CHW Forge is advancing for further growth. Major equipment’s such as Hydraulic Press for Open Die Forging, Rail Bound & Mobile Manipulator, Reheating Furnaces & handling equipment’s have been ordered on world renowned manufacturers.

Open Die Forging Hydraulic Press

The Open die forging Press has been ordered on Wepuko Pahnke-Germany.This open die forging press is a very stiff and rugged under floor press (UFP), offering a maximum forging force of 31,5 MN and maximum upsetting force of 38MN. Under floor presses, also known as pull down presses have an extremely low center of gravity. Therefore they are ideally suited for high stroke rates under eccentric loading conditions. The pull down concept also provides a clean forging area with excellent accessibility. The press force gets generated by an oil-hydraulic drive system with 6 advanced and durable radial piston pumps of the type RX 500. The modern, energy efficient Pahnke Modified Sinusoidal Direct drive (PMSD) in combination with the 2-in-1 press cylinder, gives the press extraordinary dynamics with regards to speed (215mm/s), strokes per minute (110) and accuracy. For more flexibility and fast forging processes the press system entails two manipulators. On one side of the press a rail bound manipulator (30 MT) is located; on the opposite side a mobile manipulator (14 MT) is available. This unique press system can be used for various different forging processes

  • High speed-open die forging (31,5MN)
  • Direct upsetting (38MN)
  • Forging of large rings
  • Sequential upsetting on a rotating table
  • Straightening of shafts
  • Punching and piercing of forged billets

Re-Heating Furnaces

The company Andritz Metals, will supply furnaces for the new forging line at CHW Forge. In the first stage 3 furnaces have been ordered.

  • One Car bottom reheating furnace, equipped with high-quality energy-saving heating system.
  • One Chamber reheating furnace, equipped with high-quality energy-saving heating system.
  • An electrically heated Car bottom furnace.

Some of the important features of the furnaces and the technology deployed are as follows:

  • Car Bottom Reheating and Chamber Furnace will be supplied with regenerative burner
  • The energy saving for batch-wise operated furnace is more than 30% compared to furnaces equipped with a heat exchanger with conventional operation using pre-heated air. Furnaces equipped with Regenerative burners realistically shall provide a saving of 30% in fuel consumption.
  • The on & off heating technology is deployed with cycle control for preheating furnaces.
  • Essentially for economic consideration the furnaces are designed to have the same number of burners as in case of normal recuperative firing.
  • By means of a special control of the regenerative burner system 100% performance of the furnace is achieved. This technology is very special to the furnaces of ANDRITZ Maerz and is also known as AM-REGTAKT-technology. AM-REGTAKT-technology can be briefly described as
    • Regulation takes place zone-by-zone with “normal single” cycle control. Here it is compulsory to use the ANDRITZ Maerz cycle control FB203, from version 6.0.
    • Burners are operated in single mode up to an output of Y = 50%; a burner extracts as much waste gas as it generates itself (extraction flap in small setting).
    • Increased extraction takes place when output exceeds. This means that one burner has to extract the waste gas from more than 1 burner.
    • Charging takes place on a cross-zone basis, with (cross-zone) charging control to control the charging of the burners.
