We have installed advanced radial-axial ring rolling machine from SMS group, Germany. These machines are equipped with sophisticated control systems and process technologies that ensure consistent production of high-quality rings across a wide range of sizes and shapes.

Designed for efficiency, SMS ring rolling machines require minimal energy, material, and tooling, while offering intuitive operation and high manufacturing precision. Their high level of automation enables maximum machine utilisation, resulting in a stable and cost-effective production process.

These machines are capable of processing a wide range of forgeable materials, including:

• Carbon and alloy steels

• Austenitic steels

• Super alloys such as Inconel and Hastelloy

• Non-ferrous metals like titanium, aluminum, and copper alloys

The manufacturing process begins with the production of ring blanks using specially designed presses. Through controlled upsetting and piercing operations, the blanks are prepared in an optimal shape for rolling. This is followed by radial-axial rolling, where precise deformation ensures high dimensional accuracy and reduces the need for subsequent machining.

The CNC-controlled system allows repeatability of rolling processes, ensuring consistent quality and tight tolerances. Since approximately 90% of the total energy consumption in ring rolling is used during heating, precise rolling plays a key role in reducing overall energy usage by optimising material utilisation. Additionally, closer tolerances help reduce machining time and cost.
